Hello, I am new to this site and I hope to find a solution to my newest problem. I have a 1996 mazda 626 that I just recently had work done on. The mechanic checked my engine light and said the sensor was dirty, so that was taken out and cleaned. He than checked my brake lights and changed the bulb. He also replaced my spark plugs. Two days later my parking lights would be on for no apparent reason. The switch is on off. But the parking lights are on! I have had my neighbors knocking on my door saying "Your parking lights are on, yet when I check they are off. Sometimes they are on! I went to open my door last night and the ding ding notice was going off as if my lights were on, but they were not? Any ideas here? Thanks much for any help with this newer problem.

Have it scanned for codes. Also have the mechanic that did the work check to make sure he didn't knock any wires or connections lose. And tell him you're not paying to have him do that.

Next, check the battery and the charging system. Make sure they're both operating properly. Low battery voltages can make the computer a little wonky.

If the mechanic doesn't turn up with anything, disconnect and remove the headlight switch and test it for continuity. Wiggle the actuator around to see if that causes intermittent closing of the switches.
