I have a 1996 gmc jimmy 4x4 and when I start it and put it in reverse turning the front tires either way left or right I hear a popping noise in the front end need to whats causing it and if it can be fixed?

I had the same problem with my 99 chevy tahoe. I had my father(certified mechanic) check it out. He said it was my CV joint going out on the driver side. It was a cheap fix but alot of manual labor. So be ready if you plan on spending most of the day grippin the wrench.
