My 1996 ford broncos interior dome light and rear light mounted in the camper shell do not turn off when I close the doors. The light dims down but will not turn off completely. The headlight switch has a function to turn it on and off but this does not work. All other electrical functions seem to work properly except for this. I have to pull the proper fuse every time I park so my battery wont drain. I am curious if its a door switch not fully disengaging or somewhere in the rear tailgate. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

My experience is that the door switches and tailgate switch will cause this. Its so common. Heres the thing. To really check the switches to find which one, if it is only one, youd need to remove them one at a time. You might get it right the first time, but then you might check all three before you get the right one. I usually replace them all especially with this kind of age. Theyre inexpensive at all the parts stores
