Dies when you give it gas

I have a 1996 chrysler & country lxi 3.8 it idles fine but when I give it gas it dies

Maybe it is going lean when you open the throttle? Can you rev it in park or neutral? Not much load on the engine till you put it in gear. How long since a tune-up? Any applicable codes?
