I changed the power steering pump pulley on my 1996 Chevy Monte Carlo Z34. We followed the intructions on how to get air out of system. When the car is in motion all seems fine. When I turn the steering wheel when the car is stationary there is a very loud high pitched whine. Is there something else that needs to be done? I appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you.

Welcome to our world. Frustrating, isn't it? Give it a week. If the air isn't gone by then, replace the pump under warranty. The tiny bubbles keep circulating with the fluid. When the engine is stopped, whatever little bubbles are in the reservoir will slowly float up and out. Running the engine / pump just makes it worse by recirculating the remaining bubbles throughout the system.

Thanks so much. I will follow your advice and give it some time. I feel better in knowing I probably did it right.
