My daughter drives her boyfriends 96 Cadillac. She went to target shopped, came out her car started fine put in drive and wouldn't move, put it in reverse and nothing happened. Checked the fluid and it was empty. She put three four quarts of transmission fluid and no difference. She has had no problems with transmission at all. Please give us good news. Thank you. Did she check the correct fluid indicator on the drivers side under the air filter housing? Was it checked while running, and is the fluid up to the correct level? If the fluid level is correct, and it still won't move forward or reverse, I would suspect an internal transmission problem, possibly a broken trans oil pump drive shaft. The next step would be a transmission fluid pressure check, on this transmission it can be a bit difficult to access te pressure test port, and special tools may be required. Individual gear range pressure readings are not as important as whether or not there is any pressure, at this time.
