I have a 1995 Volvo 960 which starts and runs but shut off, what could it be?

I purchased the car from a person in my neighborhood which mentioned something about the Fuel regulator. I have a check engine light on the panel, the manual says this is related to emissions.

Have it scanned for codes. And check the fuel pressure.

The 95 will not be scanable it uses the early volvo diagnostic with pins, next to the front left strut, remove the cap labeled A and connect jumper to pin 2 turn the ignition on then press the button and count the flashes and give us those details it will flash codes in a 3 sequence 1-1-1=Ok everything leads to a code common one is 2-1-2 lamda ( o2 ) just make sure key is off when plugging and unplugging that jumper wire !

The other possibility is camshaft Position sensor or crank position sensor.

Also check too your system may use two fuel pumps. There are a few 960s out there that use a high pressure low pressure set up.
