High idling speed is due to excessive air getting past the throttle body and possible causes are :
1. IAC staying opened more than required. Ensure coolant level is correct and check for clogged coolant hoses to the IAC. Clean the IAC by spraying some carb cleaner into the ports at lower portion of throttle body and let it soak for a few minutes.
2. Vacuum leakages. Check for bad PCV, air hose cracks and manifold gasket leaks.
Consumption of engine oil are mainly due to the following composition.
Bad valve seals ( 70 %)
Piston rings ( 25 %)
Leakages (5 %)
The engine light staying on during idling could be due to a clogged oil strainer in oil pan or a failing oil pump.
