1995 Nissan Quest gear shift is loose

My gear shift is loose, so when the car is I park it will roll backwards unless emergency brake is place on. Also, the car will not crank in park I must put it in neutral to crank, the van is 19 years old what could be wrong with it and would it be worth the cost?

The cable cold be out of adjust ment or the shifter is bad and worn not putting parking pawl in. Have a trans guy look at it.
