ARE YOU SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT COIL? (I'M NOT ONE TO SAY THAT THE STEALERSHIP IS THE ONLY PLACE WITH A "OEM PERFECT ONE")
HOWEVER, IF YOU DON'T GIVE THE EXACT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR VEHICLE OR THE FELLER BEHIND THE COUNTER IS MORE INTERESTED IN THE TEXT AWAITING HIM ON HIS PHONE OR EVEN A BAD BATCH CAME DOWN THE LINE. YOU MAY NOT GET THE CORRECT ONE.
HAVE YOUR CHARGING SYSTEM TESTED ALSO, MAYBE YOU ARE OVERCHARGING. THIS CAN USUALLY BE DONE AT NO CHARGE AT MANY POPULAR AUTO PARTS STORES
I'M NOT REAL "UP" ON YOUR RIG, I'M MORE INTO THE JEEP CJs, I SORTA DOMINATE/ EXCEL IN THOSE FORUMS HERE ON 2CAR. BUT I'LL TRY TO HELP YOU ANYWAY. LOL!
YOUR INFO UP TOP DOES NOT REVEAL THE "TYPE" GRAND CHEROKEE YOU HAVE. NOR THE ENGINE SIZE. CAN YOU LET US KNOW, NEXT RESPONSE?
I CAN PROVIDE YOU WITH REALLY NICE WIRING DIAGRAMS (MUST HAVE YOUR INFO TO GET THE CORRECT ONES), WHICH MIGHT ALSO AID ME IN SEEING HOW YOUR IGNITION SYSTEM IS SET UP, AND BETTER THROW OUT POSSIBILITIES.
EVEN IF I CANNOT GIVE BETTER OR MORE INFO, THE OTHER FELLERS HERE ARE GOOD ABOUT JUMPING IN WITH SOME. IN THE EVENT THAT YOU GET OVERLOOKED OR YOU FEEL "IT'S TIME".I WILL GO ROUND UP YOU ANOTHER FELLER. MOST OF THE GUYS HERE WILL AID ONE ANOTHER.
PLEASE DO INCLUDE ANY OTHER RECENT OCCURRENCES, NEW PARTS, MODIFICATIONS, ACCIDENTAL INCORRECT JUMP STARTINGS, STORAGE/ RODENT DAMAGE, ETC ETC ETC. THAT MAY OR COULD AID IN A DIAGNOSIS

O.K. New here but let me tell you what I had gone through. 1994 Grand cherokee 8 Cyl was stalling all the time. Found the primary wire on coil was broken inside shielding. Repaired the wire and replaced coil with new just because. That coil lasted a week installed original that was in the jeep that one lasted a week. It seemed that every time I replaced the coil it lasted less and less time. Read a thread saying that there had been many issues with the pin style connector and that it was redisigned for 1997 with spade style. Went down to local junk yard looking for coil and connector for 1997 no luck. So I pulled one off of a 1995 with 180,000 miles installed replacement connector and coil on Jeep has been running great for a few weeks now. So I guess that bad connection to the coil will cause them to over heat and die. Thought this might help someone because I see alot of complaints on this issue, but no one seems to respond with what there fix ended up being.

GLAD TO HEAR YOU MAY HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM
I LIKE TO HEAR "THE REST OF THE STORY" MYSELF, ON MANY OF MY ANSWERS I REQUEST THEY KEEP US UPDATED AS TO THEIR PROGRESS
IMMA CJ GUY AND I HAVE MY TWO JEEPS LOADED WITH TOOLS AND THOSE COMMON "LEAVE YOU ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD" SPARE PARTS.I HAVE SOME CRAP CRAMMED IN EVERY NOOK AND CRANNY!
I HAVE TO NAME SOME OF IT, A SPARE COIL, SPARE MECHANICAL FUEL PUMP, AND AN IGNITION MODULE, IN MY CONSOLE
OTHER THAN INTERNAL ENGINE AND INTERNAL DRIVE TRAIN PROBLEMS, I CAN FIX ANYTHING THAT COMES UP!
'COURSE MY JEEP PROBABLY WEIGHS 600 EXTRA POUNDS.I KEEP MY JEEPS IN REALLY GOOD SHAPE.
SINCE I STARTED CARRYING THE COIL, FUEL PUMP, AND MODULE, I'VE NOT HAD TO USE THEM ON MINE. THERE HAVE BEEN TWO OTHER CJs ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THAT I STOPPED TO AID.
YOU WOULD'VE APPRECIATED THE LOOKS ON THEIR FACE WHEN I DIAGNOSED AND INSTALLED MY SPARE FUEL PUMP ON HIS WITHIN 15 MINUTES ON THE 1ST GUY. MAYBE 10 MINUTES TO DO THE IGNITION MODULE ON THE OTHER
BOTH REIMBURSED ME. WELL, AND I REPLENISHED MY STUFF THE NEXT DAY!
BRINGING ME BACK AROUND TO YOU. MAYBE A SPARE COIL IN YOUR CONSOLE MIGHT WARD OFF BAD LUCK FROM YOU. MAYBE AID THE BROKE DOWN FELLER TOO?
DO RESPOND TO THIS POST IF MONTHS LATER YOU ARE STILL GOOD, SOMEONE ELSE MAY BENEFIT AND BE MORE CONFIDENT TOO!
