Is there any way to test fuel pressure and flow without a gauge?

I'm just trying to narrow the possibilities before replacing parts. truck runs but won't idle. acts like it's starved for gas. i installed throttle body rebuild kit including fuel pressure reg. if i just pour in a capful of gas the truck runs and idles great til that gas is gone. then it tries to run but can't. I'm wondering if there isn't enough pressure
