I have A 1995 Geo Prizm that runs fine at idle, but when its warm it misses at 3000 - 3500 rpm.

This is unnoticeable until you try to accelerate. Its almost like a rev limiter kicking in, and it seems too consistent to be an overheating coil.

I suspect a faulty fuel pressure regulator. Before I spend a fortune in the wrong parts, is there anything else that can cause these symptoms?

Do you have a check engine light and when was the last tune-up?

Could be caused by one of the following below

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Crankshaft position sensor
Knock sensor
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
False air leakage.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard it
