I have a 1995 Windstar with an AXOD transmission and it will not shift. It is stuck in 2nd gear. It previously shifted hard into second gear when excellerating and now will not upshift or downshift out of 2nd gear. The engine is new and transmission fluid level is good so any thoughts on what the issue is?

It's a ford! They have lots of tranny issues. Tranny hell is dedicated to fords! Usually between 150-200k on vehicle but not always. Sounds like limp mode actually? Have it scanned to find out? Also might have tranny shop scan it.

You could get lucky and it's an electrical/control/solenoid issue.

I had the exact same problem before last year on a 97 windstar 3.8. It turned out to be the electric switch on the transmission that's connected to the gear selector with the big plug on it. Only cost me 29.99.
