Clutch oil?

Lately I have to rev engine to 2500 to 3000 rpm to get first gear to move the car. Was told to check clutch but dont know where or how.

You need a clutch replacement. The free play is the only check you can make without removing the trans to check the assembly. You should have about 1/2 inch play in the pedal before pressure is felt.
