'95 Ford Escort slows while driving uphill

'95 Ford Escort slows while driving uphill. The higher the hill the more it slows down, often barely making it to the top of the hill. There are no noises, no smoke, no smells. And otherwise, the car runs fine. Can you tell me what the problem might be? Thanks :)

I would be getting the transmission checked, this will only get worse.
