What can cause a brand new battery to not keep a charge?

Bought brand new battery, termials. Cleaned everything off really good. Truck still dies out. Cant keep a charge to move it! Alternator isnt the problem either! At my whits end with this truck!
we jump it, as soon as you take the cables off, it dies.
just replaced ball joints. Had to get a jump to leave the mechanic. Thought it was a bad battery, so bought a new one. Truck hasnt been the same since.

So you have tested the alternator?Do you have a multimeter to do some testing?So if the battery is fully charged will the engine run for a little while?

Have the alternator load tested if okay-get a battery drain test-could be a short circuit draining the battery
