I have a 3.9 dodge dakota the transmission in my truck is an a500/42re it is found in 3.9 dakotas from 1988-2003, 5.2 dakotas from1988-1999, 3.9and5.2 durangos from1998-2000, 3.9 rampickup from 1988 2002, 3.9 van and wagon-1500-2500-3500- from1988-1996, and jeep cherokees from1994-2004, wrangler 03-04 this transmission found in all of theese vehicles the a500/42re will it mate electronicly to my 1995 dodge dakota im haveing problems getting a transmission from that exact truck if the a500/42re is the same all the way around then I can probably get one and have it in monday afternoon

It should. But they may have changed the programming and connectors over the years. The programming can be managed using a programming tool. The connectors would be a little difficult, though.

Where would the programing be in the transmission ive got all the connectors ive got two no good trannys that fit my truch and a good tork converter here w/me

The programming is in the control module. You would need a programming tool connected to the diagnostic connector.

Ok what if I transplant the control module from the transmission I allready have im sure it works I just blew out the reverse on that trans all the other gears work the controll module reads to my truck so if I get a transmission and transplant the controll module it should mate electrically right

It should. Again, the main issue is whether the connectors all match. Both on the trans and on the chassis. As long as the trans physically fits and all of the connectors fit, the reprogramming that may be required is the easy part.
