Hi I have a 95 suburban, we just replaced the radiator. It over heats and shuts off. Any ideas on what I should do. If I have the a/c off it tends to stay below 225 but onces I turn the a/c on it shoots up to 260 and wants to shut off.

Yes it was overheating before the swap which is why we changed it thinking the rad was the problem. Last changed the thermostat 4 yrs ago. Fan looks like it works fine. When it overheats past 260 the vehicle shuts itself off. It may be that its just an old vehicle and its time to get rid of it.

The fins on the water pump may be corroded/disintegrated away. Have you ever replaced the water pump? You can check it by removing the hose attached to it and sticking a screwdriver into it to feel the fins, and rotate the pulley by hand (after taking the serpentine belt tension off) and if you can not feel the fins that circulate the coolant, you have a bad water pump.
