I was told that I need a new front left lower control arm and strut. How difficult is it to change on a Buick Regal? I do not have the $600 they wanted to fix it, and the engine runs great. It hit a curb and has been steering weird ever since. My boyfriend usually does all the work on our cars at home, can he do this?

If he is mechanically inclined and has the tools, he should be able to do it at home. My only concern is the strut. If only the strut is being replaced and not the assembly, the coil spring needs to be compressed. If he doesn't have the right tools to do that, I would not recommend doing it.
