1995 BMW 318i ENGINE CHANGE

I have a 1995 bmw 318i convertible and was thinking of putting a better engine because rn it has a 4 cylinder with 151000 miles on it and wanted to get maybe a 6 or 8 cylinder. What engine would I be able to put in and if so what would I need to fix so that it works and runs smoothly.

There is only one engine used in this model, so to do a conversion to a 6 or 8 will be expensive, I am sure that there will be some engine that you can use but I don't know what, you will have to start looking in BMW forums for suable versions.
