My Mitsubishi Galant 1994 has excessive smoke during accelerating and smells petrol. Can anybody help to determine what is the cause and what steps / repair has to be taken. Thanks.

Sounds like its running too rich if its black smoke out of the rear

1. Excessive fuel pressure can be cause by restricted fuel return line
2. Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3. Leaking injectors and fuel pressure regulator.
4. Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5. Restricted air intake system.
