While traveling uphill, if I go slowly the vehicle tends to lurch forward, almost as if its trying to downshift to compensate for the incline. The problem worries me as to I have had the car only a couple days and the car was shifting funny, so naturally I am concerned for the wellbeing on my investment. I was wondering if there are any simple possibilities to fix the problem or if I have to completely replace the tranny, if so would it be even possible to convert it to a manual transmission without any sort of mechanical problems. I am open for any suggestion. PLEASE HELP!

Start with basics. Check transmission fluid level and condition. Check for trouble codes.
Such problems are usually due to control or solenoid faults. If the throttle position sensor is out of adjustment, it would cause this too.

Converting from automatic to manual is not much of a problem but getting all the required components might not be that easy.
