Hi,

I have a 1994 Hyundai Excel, and am trying to replace the starter but it's a bugger to get to. I need to know what I need to take out in order to get to it. I can see it but cannot get to it, it seems to me that I may need to take the aircon unit out.

Would appreciate your help.

Kind Regards,

Alma.

Removal & Installation

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove EGR valve (if equipped). Remove speedometer cable. Disconnect starter wires and remove starter mounting bolts. To install,  reverse removal procedure. Tighten starter
mounting bolts to 19 24 ft. Lbs. (26 33 N.M). Tighten EGR valve mounting bolts to 7 11 ft. Lbs. (10 15 N.M). See Fig. 5Â.
