Heater problem

Then heater on a 1995 honda civic does not work. The tempurature gauge does not work either when the tempurature gauge does work the heater works also. What is most likely wrong with my car? Is there possibly a loose wire?

If the fan is blowing cold air when the gauge isn't working, that tells me the thermostat may be stuck open and not allowing the engine to warm up. Thus, you get cold air from the heater.

Step 1 - A heater cannot operate unless the engine is full of coolant/antifreeze. If coolant level is low check the system for leaks.
