Why am I not getting anything through my vents? :(

My Tempo is a 4-cyl 2.3L with a/c. Last week, I replaced the blower motor, squirrel cage and resistor because I'm not getting anything through the vents. My husband connected the blower motor to a toggle switch which works but it's rubbing against something inside the hole and still nothing is coming through the vents. When I push the various buttons on the heat control panel, I can hear the different vents opening but still nothing coming through the vents. I don't smell antifreeze so I don't think it's the heater core. The engine warms up like it usually does. I guess the best way to describe it is that the heat "oozes" through the vents. I can't afford to put any more money into repairing it but I have children and it's starting to get really cold; I just want the heat to work like it did a few weeks ago. Not sure what else you need to know. Please help!

Thank you
