I have a 94 ford ranger that starts fine but will stall out if I take my foot off the gas and the battery gauge is going nuts while I try to keep it running

Clean out the idle air control valve and EGR valve and see what happens

Is the gauge showing an over charge, under charge? Also, check to make sure all connections to it are good and the battery is properly grounded.

Let me know what you find.
