I have this truck that grinds every time I turn the key. I took the starter off and went to test it and it came out good. I checked my flex plate, and it had all the teeth, but I can move my flex plate by hand easily. I wanted to see if you’ll help me out.

Hi,

The flex plate should be bolted to the crankshaft and very difficult to turn. Did this problem happen all at once?

If you are able to move it easily, it sounds like the flex plate has broken. This would require the removal of the transmission to access.

Here is a link that explains how to do it:

Let me know.
