Help on tempature gauge

Have replaced t-stat & sensors, gauge starts at 0 goes completly to 260 deg. Then drops to about 120 when t-stat opens. Then the hand will rise and fall between the 120 &210 as you drive so im thinking re-build the gauge. Thank you mike

Yes, it could be the wiring or gage itself. Usually the sending unit provides resistance to ground, so if one wire, you can take it loose, key on, touch wire to ground, see if gage goes to moving. I don't like to peg-out a gage, I use a resistor to test.

Yes sir the gauge pegs out if momenterly grounded. Do this year modle use a stepper motor on the gauge? Thanks mike

Looks like your gage and wiring are ok, unless the issue is intermittent. I didn't see a stepper motor.

If its not over heating and you dont here the engine clatter on axceleration. Its not over heating. Normal swing on a heat gauge is like220 on and 195 off.I cant see yours going to 120. The coolant sensor controls this function also.
