when i drive my car it clicks in the rear tire but when i hit my brakes it stops

Check the rear brakes, remove the wheel and the brake drum. Check for anything that is hitting the rear axle hub. Most likely the emergency cable is loose and when you put on the brake it tightens up with the brakes.
