Why is my car surging

Hi, my first time, I recently got a BMW 318i A, automatic gear, when I continuously accelerate it somehow jumps what could I be facing? The car is so small inside.

Bring it in and have the transmission checked by a tranny specialist

Thank you very much rasmatz. Could you kindly also advice on: I drove the car last nigtht, but mazingly I got into a pot hole but it could not climb it. I had to reverse and come with high speed in order to move forward. Am I facing a big engene problem?
