My 1993 volvo 940-non turbo, 2.3- will not crank. We have replaced the Noise Reduction Sensor, the fuel pump, the Idle Air Control Valve and tested everywhere to make sure we have air, spark, and fuel. The code that it is throwing back is 2 2 3 (the idle air control valve). Any suggestions on what the problem may be? Would a gap of.058 on the spark plug prevent it from starting?

Have you checked you crankshaft positioning sensor yet? It is located on the top of your trasmission housing just below the distributor cap. It will be attached by a black cable coming up the firewall and connects on the firewall as well. It is held on by a 10mm bolt, a very easy fix. Sometimes you can pull up on it before you replace it and your engine may start, but replace it anyway. It costs about $45.00
