I have a 240Sx ('93) it was parked for several months but recently we got it running again. It's been running fine for days and now is suddenly overheating. I have checked checked multiple things:
* There is coolant in the reservoir
* The clutch fan is running
* The coolant in the reservoir IS hot so I believe the water pump is working
* There is noting obstructing the radiator
* It seems to drive fine on the way to work (50+ speeds) but as I pulled in an parked I saw some smoke and smelled coolant. Saw my gauge was up to H/
* Oil looks clear, not like a milkshake so I think the head gasket is okay for now
* There is NO heat coming out of my vents even when put on high. (First made me suspect the water pump, but the hot water in the reservoir seems to indicate it is working)
* I did let it cool down some and then take a quick lap around the parking lot. At low speeds the temp shot up in 1 minute to H again.
* I have not taken it at high speeds again to see if it's keeping cool while going fast.

I am on a single mom budget and need to get this working ASAP so trying to narrow down the cause so I do not have to replace the thermostat, water pump, and temp control valve to make sure I have it fixed.

Whenit gets hot does it do it within a few minutes like 2-3 if it is replace thermostat. If not when it hot unplug fan after engine is shut off and feel radiator in different spots, it you feel any cold spots or the fins are falling out and corroded, then it's probably the radiator is bad.
