Speed sensor

We have a jeep cherokee sport 93, the wiring harness caught on fire, could the speed sensor cause a short in the system and is there a video or piture on speed sensor showing what it looks like? Need help. Thanks, bobby

Not due to an electrical problem. The sensor works by intermittently grounding out, (shorting) a 5.0 volt signal.

The sensor is bolted into the rear of the transfer case housing on the driver's side. It will have three wires.
