I have a 1993 Ford Explorer 4x4 4.0L V6. The temp gauge, fuel gauge, and radio are all messing up. They normally don't work at all but if we move some of the wires around we can sometimes get them to kick in and work. The moment we let go of the wires the gauges and radio die again.

We just got done replacing the ignition key cylinder thinking it was a short and hoping that would fix it but it didn't change anything.

What else could it be?

sounds like a short in the wireing where you are grabbin git and making it work. you'll need to physically look at the wires in that spot. then if they are you 'll have to repair them righ twith solder and heat shrink .
