I accidently backed into a wall with my 1993 ford explorer tailgate up. It now is sprung. A new set of hinges did not realign it. What do I need to do?

You need to check if the base for the hinges have been damaged and is now out of alignment. If yes, you would need repair the body frame. Without any tools, you would need the help of a body repair shop. If the damage is not too bad, some shims and adjustment to realign the hinges might work.
