Repair reclining seat?

I have a 1993 Dodge spirit. The driver's seat ( back decided to lay back on it's own. It is now laying on the back seat and will not stay in the upright position. Where do I look to find the problem? Any suggestions on what might be wrong or how to fix it?

The recliner mechanism is broken, and I hate to say it, but there are no serviceable parts. Either replace the seat (salvage yard) or see if the part is even available at a dealer.
