What I need to do to fix my car

I went to work one day and my car started skipping. I pull the plug wires off one at a time to see if that change anything, but it did not. Then it shut off and will not crank up. I replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. Still nothing, so I done a compression test and it had 55psi on cylinders. Someone told me to replace the timing belt. So I replaced the timing belt and still nothing. Is there a specific way to put the timing belt on. Or do I need to replace the motor. Also I have spark and fuel it just don't want to run.

It only has 55psi of compression? Is that on each cylinder?

That compression is too low to run the engine.

I have not done the compression test after I put the timing belt on. I wondering if it bent a valve, when it shut off it made a pop noise then it wouldn't crank up.

Very possible. Recheck compression. It needs to be higher than 55psi for the engine to run.

Let me know what you find.
