My CAR won't start

My CAR won't start. I just bought my car battery a few weeks ago.

Chck battery condition it shold have at least 12.4 volts with nothing on. Then check cables and if starter wont' turn over then have an assistant hit body of starter iwth hammer if it starts the starter is bad
