I have a 1992 Bonnieville SSE with flickering security, control & service engine lights and at same time wierd noises from dash. Also engine starts then shuts off right away and no head, tail or brake lights. No power windows, mirrors, seats, radio, nothing is working. Battery connections good and getting ready to rent scan tool to check for codes but need any advice of where to start.

Check that the battery has a full charge, if you use a digital multimeter across battery posts, everything turned off, the generic spec for a full charge is around 12.6 volts. If the battery is fully charged, leave the meter leads at the battery, turn key on, no crank, voltage reading would drop a little, then, if you turn to crank, it drops a lettle more but, usually not below 9.6 volts. Any electrical circuit your having trouble with, check the fuse and voltage at the fuse. If the circuit isn't fuse protected, there maybe a fusible link.

Check the positive cable connection at the battery. Make sure
it is tight. Those sounds you hear are probably relays clicking
on and off. You may end up with some burnt relays.
