Hello, without taking the intake manifold out, how in the heck does this starter come out? The A/C compressor is in the way and you cannot drop it or access it from below. I removed the negative battery cable, wires and 2 starter bolts but these 2 manual transmission cables were in the way. How the heck does this come out? Please help ASAP. There is no room to remove it. Thanks, GH

Hi,

I hate to say it, but you need to remove the shift cables and the speedometer cable. Here are the directions from the manual. The attached pic correlates with the directions.

1992 Hyundai Excel L4-1468cc 1.5L SOHC (8 VALVE)
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Starter

See Pic 1

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the speed meter cable and the shift cable.
3. Disconnect the starter motor connector and terminal.
4. Remove the starter motor assembly.
5. Installation is the reverse order of removal.

You are very welcome. I'm glad you got it out because I know they can be a pain. LOL

Regardless, let us know if you have questions in the future.

Take care,
Joe
