1992 Honda Accord lowering springs

Hello, I was wondering what would happen if I close the springs on my 92 honda accord. I really want to lower it the right way but buying the coilovers and or springs is too expensive and someone told me that they sell lowering adaptors at autozone and I went to check them out but I want to be sure that theyll work and wont affect my car in any way. The adaptors just basically close the springs.
