I have a 1992 Honda Accord w/ 165,000 miles on it, I baerly got it so didnt know this was happening. I drove it on the expressway and was running good and once I whould get up to 70 mph the car whould start backfireing and chocking, then it whould start slowing down until it whould hit 50 mph then it whould work fine again what do u suggest this might be.

Could be caused by one of the following below

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Crankshaft position sensor
Knock sensor
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing.
