1992 Suburban service engine soon light

1992 suburban with a 5.7L with 10k miles on new engine, when the engine is cold the engine starts and runs fine, but after an hour or so of driving, then shut the engine off. When restart the engine thats when the service engine soon light comes on and runs rough. The mechanic replaced some module and also the computer but it continues to happen. When its cold runs fine until its driven for a while.

When light comes on need to check for trouble codes

The mechanic has checked the codes, but since its pre-1996 vehicle the codes only give general indication.
