How can I get the center console lid open in order to replace the lock/latch?

The center console latch will not work. Its a latch that takes a key and obviously I don't have it but done think that would help as its not locked. I can depress the two slides which used to do the trick but its been broken for 5 years and I want to open and replace. Can you help with a way to disassemble it or get the cover off?

Other than to drill the lock can't tink of anything else. You could try to force it open then fix it but hard telling what would break when you do. You might try a think piece of metal like sheet metal to see if you can push the lock open then see if that works.
