1991 Honda Accord EX when in drive the car will sometimes shift to a lower gear and then back again, again and again. Sometimes the car will shift fine.

If the D4 ( or S mode if equipped) light is blinking, an error has been detected and stored in the transmision control unit and retrieving the trouble code would help to diagnose this problem.

If no codes are found, have the throttle position sensor tested.
