On her 1991 ford festiva. Transmission is free from the engine but caught on a bind in the splines. How do I fix this?

Do you mean the transmission cannot free fully from engine?
Did you support the engine well?

Hey I did this 2 weeks ago on my daughters car. I know this is a dumb question but did you pull out the half shafts?
I looked at it after I was ready to pull the tranny I looked at it and decided one more motor mount, exhaust, and a few hoses and plugs I'll just pull the whole engine tranny out together. It was easy to replace hanging of the hoist. It made it real easy to change the timing belt at this point also.
