A couple of days ago the Oil light on my car came on. As it goes through a bit of oil from time to time, I assumed it was low and added a litre. Checked afterward and it`s a little over the mark. The oil light did not go off, though. Also when the light is on, the ignition freezes. I cannot turn the car off. Is it a sensor?

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearing.

Also check and test the ignition switch
