Hi! Just bought a 1991 BMW 318i, and the odometer and trip meter are not working. Also the speedo stops working and drops to 0 intermittently, then pops back up to speed. Any idea if there is a sensor or is the problem within the dash/gauge pod? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The instrument cluster has a circuit board inside of it called a service interval board, it may be the issue. It could also be the reed switch at the differential. 62119070793 is the part number for the S.I. Board. Go with the easy stuff first, put the rear in the air and see if an ohm meter connected to the contacts at the differential open and close when the tires are turned. Reed switch first, instrument cluster second, OK?

Thanks! I will give that a try first. I also was wondering if it might be stripped gears within the cluster itself. But I will do easiest first like you said. THANKS AGAIN!
