Oil effects

Thank you. I also would like to know if a small amount of oil in the d/c would cause a slight to often occuring putter in the engine especially upon acceleration? Putter meaning a very very mild back fire-more so from inside the engine compartment and not outwardly heard.

What's "d/c"?

If you have oil inside the distributor, it is condensing there after seeping past the seal around the shaft inside the housing. A common cause is in ineffective PCV system, and the common symptom is a no-start from the oil collecting on the optical sensor. I imagine it could also cause intermittent misfiring too.

Oh; does "d/c" mean distributor cap?
