How do I stop the alarm and flashing light for the power top?

I just recently purchased a 1990 mercedes 300SL and I accidentally pressed the power top up button and now when the car is in motion ther is a flashing light to the right of the gear selector and a beeping alarm that sounds. How can I fix it? And just exactly how does the hard top come off?
